We've taken Your word ©Brian Hooper, December 2006

We've taken Your word to every last place on earth,
And told of the Saviour's birth in every far land;
So let us go to the people and places where Jesus went,
Where we are already sent, right here where we stand.

Lord Jesus you came and gave us Your precious word,
But many have never heard the news of Your grace;
Fire us again with the courage to speak of the love You show,
With those who have yet to know, who pass by this place.
	Our Father, we praise You, Lord Jesus, we raise You.
You know that we love You, help us to speak of You;
Outside these church walls a hungry world calls;
O Spirit, come to us, Thy will be done through us.

We worship You here, in phrases habitual,
The language of ritual, its meaning unclear;
Help us to know how to show, as we go, that You are the Way,
The Lord of the everyday, God now and God here.
Our Father, we praise You, Lord Jesus, we raise You.
You know that we love You, help us to speak of You;
Outside these church walls a hungry world calls;
O Spirit, come to us, Thy will be done through us.

Outside these church walls a hungry world calls;
O Spirit, come to us, Thy will be done through us.
Verse:
D A G D G D G D / D G D G D A G D
Chorus:
D G A D Bm Em A D D7 G A D Bm Em A G D

I wrote this song, under the title “Hymn for Fresh Expressions”, after a weekend at Sarum College on the subject of Fresh Expressions of Church.  A bit of divine guidance can come in handy.
The tune is recycled, having first been written for ‘Creation In Fables’.
