You can hear me most Fridays at the Fo’c’sle Folk Club, MCing and doing the opening spot or taking my turns in the singaround on our “Anything Goes” nights. Richmond Inn, Portswood Road, Southampton (almost opposite Waitrose). Visit the club’s website at www.focsle.org.uk for more information. http://www.focsle.org.ukshapeimage_2_link_0
THE TITANIC SHOW:
“Look Out!” - Southampton’s Titanic story in song.
Jeff Henry, Barry Wake and I have put together a “story in song” that tells of the effect of the Titanic’s arrival in the port, the impact of its loss, and the later story of one survivor, Fred Fleet, the lookout who first saw the iceberg. It’s to mark the centenary of the sinking, and its flagship performance will be at the Turner Sims Concert Hall on 11 April 2012, part of the city’s official programme of commemorations.
We’re also performing it at:
Romsey Arts Festival on Saturday 16 July 2011
Hanger Farm Arts Centre, Totton, 17 September 2011
The Discovery Centre, Winchester, 27 January 2012 (to be confirmed)
Watch this space for more details of those and other dates. We’ve recorded the songs from the show as a CD, now available although it isn’t officially released until September 2011 - after that it will be available for download and at some good record shops (you may have to order it specially!).

And in August Jeff and I are doing a rather unusual gig, as part of Southampton’s “Over 50s Festival”. On Monday 15 August we’ll walk round some of the city’s historic buildings, with a group of not-so-old folk, and sing songs about them. More details here later.
The preceding Tuesday, 9 August, we’re hosting a folk night at Guava (formerly Hampton’s) also as part of the Over 50s Festival. It’s not a venue noted for folk music, or for attracting the over-50s, so let’s challenge a few preconceptions, eh?
